Harvey Sorgen has played with Hot Tuna, Ahmad Jamal, Ted Dunbar, Michelle Shocked, Paul Simon, Dewey Redman, Dave Douglas, Mark Feldman, Connie Bauer, Pete Levin, John Lindberg, Giovanni Hildago, Bruce Hornsby, Jimmy Heath, Percy Heath, R Bill Frisell, Carlos Santana, Greg Allman, Marcel Monroe, Sorgen-Rust-Windbiel trio, amongst many,many others. He has also written and performed pieces for film and the stage, gives workshops around the world in jazz ensembles, improvisation, percussion master classes and audio production and has been involved in many great recording projects as an engineer and editor.
Pianist/Composer Angelica Sanchez moved to New York in 1994. Since moving to the East Coast she has played with: Wadada Leo Smith, Paul Motian, Ralph Alessi, Susie Ibarra, Tim Berne, Mario Pavone, Trevor Dunn, Mark Dresser, Ed Schuller, and many more. Sanchez leads many groups including her own quintet featuring Marc Ducret, Tony Malaby, Drew Gress, and Tom Rainey. Her music has been recognized in international publications like, JazzTimes Magazine, The New York Times, and The Chicago Tribune. Her debut solo CD “A Little House” was featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition in 2011. Her CD “Wires & Moss” featuring her Quintet was chosen as one of best Releases of 2012 in “All About Jazz/NYC”. Her Duo CD “Twine Forest” with Wadada Leo Smith received Honor Mention as a best release in 2013 in The NYC Jazz Record.
Omar Tamez studied composition with Nicandro Tamez, a composer and educator who founded his own Escuela Formativa por las Artes. He also studied privately through workshops and seminars with Andre Richard, Daniel Catan, Mario Lavista, Manuel de Elias, Pierre Boulez and Karl ‐ Heinz Stockhausen. He is the founder and leader of Non‐Jazz, his group of twenty-one years. He is also the founder, producer and artistic director of the “International Musicians Meeting”. Omar has played and/or recorded with Ramón López, Agustí Fernandez, Gebhard Ullmann, Conny Bauer, Reggie Workman, Rashied Ali, Sonny Fortune, Sam Rivers, Joe Fonda, George Schuller, Ratzo B. Harris and many others. One of his recent projects was with Wadada Leo Smith’s Golden Quartet/Double Quartet in Buffalo, NY.
